I used to consider myself a financial opportunist. A mentor of mine told me that money was a game, and it's won by people who know the rules and play responsibly. I became obsessed with all the little tricks; how to pay off your balance early to increase your credit score, which credit card yielded the most points, how to game the insurance system, every tip was a rush. Then a friend of mine told me I could double every dollar I earned by putting it in an employer retirement account. My employer at the time matched up to 7% of your annual earnings. What a no brainer! That is until I found out that I would be responsible for paying between 20-40% of it in taxes... maybe I should've used my brain a little more. An unlikely career opportunity introduced me to financial opportunities that uncovered a new world for me to grow in. I became obsessed with improving my own financial situation and, as usual, bringing everyone else along with me. I'm grateful to work with a team of so many passionate entrepreneurs and financially minded professionals with one goal: to steward the resources God's given us to bring about more than we had in the first place.
